Arsenal reach contract agreement with 29-goal striker
Arsenal have reportedly agreed a new three-year contract with club-captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, which would make him the highest-paid player.
The Gabon international was in fine form for the Gunners during the 2019/2020 campaign where he registered 29 goals from 44 appearances across all competitions.
He also scored the club's only goal in the Community Shield clash against Liverpool last month. The north London giants went on to win the game on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners have finalised reached a contract agreement with the 31-year-old and his deal will be extended until the summer of 2023.
It is added that he would become the club's highest earner with the agreement meaning that the deal could be worth more than the £350,000-a-week salary commanded by Mesut Ozil.
Aubameyang has been the Gunners' standout player since his move from Borussia Dortmund two-and-a-half years ago. He has bagged 71 goals from just 110 appearances across all competitions.
