Planes denies Man United talks for Dembele

Barcelona sporting director Ramon Planes has stressed that the club have held no negotiations with Manchester United over the possible transfer of Ousmane Dembele.

The Red Devils have failed in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer and of late, it has been claimed that they are looking to land Dembele on a temporary basis.

Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that the Red Devils are negotiating a suitable deal, but the story has been dismissed by Planes, who has talked up the importance of the winger.

"There are no negotiations with Manchester United," He told AS. "He's a player we're counting on. We know his potential and we hope he can show his best, with all the changes there have been in the team."

Dembele has suffered injuries in each of his three seasons at the Camp Nou and he has made only 75 appearances across all competitions to date. The Blaugrana will be hoping that he can remain unscathed this term.

Dembele was the subject of a loan approach from Liverpool earlier this summer, but he opted to snub their advances in order to fight for his position at the Blaugrana.
