Chelsea star says he was open to joining Arsenal
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has acknowledged that he was open to the prospect of joining Arsenal during the recent transfer window.
The Gunners were on the hunt for a holding midfielder and they made an enquiry for Jorginho during the final week of the transfer window.
However, they eventually managed to land their top target in Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid and that cooled their interest in the Italian.
"I believe that every player is open to negotiations," He told ESPN Brazil. "So I believe there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I remain here."
Jorginho was out-of-favour under Frank Lampard after the project restart last term and he only reclaimed his spot after injuries to Kante and Gilmour.
He was linked with a potential move to Juventus this summer, but the deal failed to materialise after the dismissal of manager Maurizio Sarri.
A move to the Emirates was touted before the deadline, but that was not meant to be. He has played a pivotal role during the current campaign.
He has bagged three goals and one assist from six appearances this season.
