Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has reportedly demanded showdown talks with the club's hierarchy after his exclusion from the 25-man Premier League squad.

The Argentine was the back-up goalkeeper to David de Gea over the past five years, but he has dropped down the pecking order this term with the emergence of Dean Henderson.

Romero was excluded from the 25-man Champions League A list squad earlier this month and he found out earlier this week that he has not been registered in the Premier League squad as well.

Hence, he is said to be deeply disappointed with his treatment by the Red Devils and The Star claims that he has demanded talks with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to sort out his future.

The 33-year-old has not been short of offers. He was the subject of interest from Everton and Leeds United earlier this summer, but neither were willing to meet the £10m price tag.

His current deal expires at the end of the season, but United have the option to extend his contract for another year. The shot-stopper is hopeful that he can terminate his deal in order to pursue a free transfer elsewhere.
