Liverpool planning new contracts for midfield duo
Liverpool are reportedly planning to negotiate new contracts with both Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Fabinho and Wijnaldum have been key players for the Reds in the midfield, and the former has also helped out at the heart of the defence this season.
According to The Guardian, the Reds are keen to tie down Fabinho and Wijnaldum to new deals. Fabinho's current contract expires in June 2023, but the club are prepared to extend his stay for another two years at least with a significant wage rise.
Meanwhile, Wijnaldum's contract expires at the end of the season. The Reds have yet to open negotiations with the Dutchman, who will be free to speak with foreign clubs in January. Barcelona have been termed as long-term admirers of the player.
Both Fabinho and Wijnaldum played the full 90 minutes of the 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday evening. Wijnaldum scored his first goal of the campaign prior to the hour mark of that game.
