Hertha want Guendouzi on a permanent deal

Hertha Berlin are looking at the prospect of signing Matteo Guendouzi on a permanent basis from Arsenal.

The Frenchman's relationship with the Gunners deteriorated during the backend of last season and he was hence loaned out to Hertha for the 2020/21 campaign.

He has since been in good form for the German side in the centre of the park and has bagged one goal and one assist from seven Bundesliga matches.

According to Del Tagesspiegel, Hertha are exploring a permanent deal for the midfielder and they will open talks with the Gunners regarding the same in January.

Guendouzi was a regular for the Gunners earlier this year, but he was dropped from the squad after his altercation with Brighton & Hove Albion's Neal Maupay where he grabbed the Frenchman by the neck.

The former Lorient graduate was reportedly valued at around £30m earlier in the summer. The Gunners may demand a slightly lesser fee in January, given his contract expires in 18 months' time.
