Liverpool midfielder open to signing new contract
Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is reportedly open to signing a fresh deal, provided the club meet his requirements.
The Dutchman has been with the Reds for the past four-and-a-half years where he has accumulated more than 200 appearances.
Wijnaldum has less than six months left on his current contract and he is free to speak with foreign clubs, if he wishes to do so.
However, he is said to prefer to extend his stay with the Reds and believes he warrants a long-term deal for his loyalty towards the club.
The Merseyside giants are reportedly prepared to offer him a two-year contract, but Wijnaldum is holding out for at least a three-year deal.
Barcelona are keeping tabs on the situation, but the 30-year-old is unlikely to initiate talks with them until the Reds make their final contract decision.
Wijnaldum should make the starting XI for Jurgen Klopp's side when they face Southampton away from home in the Premier League on Monday night.
