Chelsea, Manchester City to battle for David Alaba?

Chelsea and Manchester City could reportedly go head-to-head to sign Bayern Munich defender David Alaba this summer.

Alaba will leave the Bavarian giants when his contract expires in June and he has yet to decide on his next club.

Barcelona have also been credited with an interest, but they are reluctant to pay big amid the financial troubles due to COVID-19.

According to The Star, the Blues and Cityzens have jumped ahead of the queue and are the main contenders for his signature.

Alaba is likely to delay a decision regarding his future until the summer with Bayern eyeing Bundesliga and Champions League success.

Despite a complete breakdown in contract talks, Alaba has remained a regular starter at the heart of the defence for Bayern.

He has made more than 400 appearances for them over the past decade and will be aiming to leave them on a high.
