Manchester United and Liverpool have decided against moving for the services of Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic this summer.

The Serbian has been heavily linked with a Premier League move with United being among the long-term admirers.

With under 15 months left on his contract, he has been widely tipped for a fresh challenge, but he may not head to England.

According to Corriere Fiorentino, both United and Liverpool are having second thoughts over pursuing the defender's signature this summer.

The pair sent their scouts to watch Milenkovic play for Serbia against Portugal, but they were far from impressed with the display.

Milenkovic had a tough game against the Euro 2016 holders, and he was given his marching orders for a straight red card in the final minutes.

In the subsequent game, he conceded twice against the Republic of Ireland, though Serbia were still on the winning side (3-2).

Fiorentina are said to value Milenkovic at around £30m, and may have to sell for less with the player's contract situation.
