Manchester United still interested in Real Madrid defender
Manchester United are firmly interested in signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer.
The Red Devils recently committed Eric Bailly to a new long-term deal, and it appeared that could shelve their plans to sign another centre-back.
However, according to Manchester Evening News, they are still interested in Varane, and could make an approach in the coming weeks.
Varane has been with Los Blancos for the past decade, but he could leave them after failing to negotiate a new deal.
His current contract expires in less than 14 months, and the club have been reluctant to meet his demands for a salary hike.
United are long-term admirers of Varane. They tried to sign him from Lens in 2011 before another failed attempt in 2019.
Varane is unlikely to come on the cheap with reports stating that Los Blancos could demand at least £60m to sanction his sale.
Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in the 2018 World Cup winner.
