Villarreal set Pau Torres asking price

Villarreal have reportedly lowered their price tag for defender Pau Torres ahead of the summer transfer window.

Torres has been regularly linked with Manchester United in recent months, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eyeing a left-footed centre-back.

It was reported last month that Torres has a £55m release clause on his contract, but Villarreal could accept a part-exchange deal.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that they could now accept a modest fee of around £26m to part ways with the Spaniard.

United are likely to consider an approach, but they could face stiff competition from Real Madrid, who are long-term admirers.

Los Blancos had been left frustrated with United's interest in the defender, but have now been handed a boost with the low price tag.

The club are looking to sanction the sale of Raphael Varane this summer, and could use part of the funds to land Torres.

United have constantly been linked with both Varane and Torres.
