Atletico set price tag for Trippier

Manchester United have been told to pay €40m to sign Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier this summer.

The England international has been fancied to return to the Premier League this summer with strong interest from United.

The Red Devils recently made a €12m bid for the right-back, but the offer was swiftly rejected by the Spanish champions.

It is now reported that the Madrid giants won't entertain anything less than €40m for the former Tottenham man.

The 30-year-old has two years remaining on his contract, and Atletico are reluctant to let him go on the cheap this summer.

United may now have to look elsewhere for another right-back, who can compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka next season.

Wan-Bissaka has excelled with his defensive duties, but there are question marks regarding the attacking side of his game.

Trippier has been identified as United's prime target, but they are likely to be put off by the hefty price set by Diego Simeone's side.
