United set to hand bumper contract to Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United are reportedly planning to negotiate a new long-term contract with midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese joined the club from Sporting Lisbon in January last year, and he has since been a revelation for them.

Fernandes has bagged 40 goals and 25 assists from just 80 appearances for the club across all competitions.

He has four years left on his contract, but The Mirror claims that the club are looking to reward him for his efforts.

He currently earns around £180,000-a-week. He could be handed a bumper contract worth more than £300,000 weekly.

That would make him one of the highest earners in the Premier League, just behind David de Gea on the salary list at United.

The Red Devils recently signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund to bolster their attacking department for next season.

They are now looking to strengthen their backline, and are in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid to land Raphael Varane.

Varane could cost €70 million despite being in the last year of his contract.
