Arsenal to miss out on signing Mat Ryan
Arsenal are set to miss out on re-signing Mat Ryan with the goalkeeper due to join Real Sociedad on a permanent deal.
The Australian spent the second half of last season on loan with the Gunners from Brighton & Hove Albion.
He acted as the deputy to Bernd Leno, but left a good impression in his three appearances for the north London side.
It was recently claimed that the Gunners were exploring a permanent deal, but they have now received a major setback.
According to Sky Sports News, Ryan has turned them down for a return to the Spanish La Liga with Real Sociedad.
He has also snubbed advances from Celtic, who were prepared to offer him the number one role alongside a long-term deal.
Ryan is expected to undergo his medical with Sociedad soon. The Gunners are likely to focus on their alternative targets this summer.
Unlike Ryan, they won't come on the cheap. They are interested in Sam Johnstone of West Bromwich Albion, who is valued at £20m.
