Chelsea join Manchester United in race to sign French sensation
Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to sign Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer.
The 18-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in French football, and he is up for a bigger challenge.
With a year left on his contract, he is expected to be sold. Both Chelsea and United are interested in prising him away this summer.
Rennes value the teenager at around £50 million, but they could accept an initial fee of around £30m for the Frenchman.
Camavinga is currently assessing his options and L'Equipe claims that he would prefer to stay in France with Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the Blues could also have the advantage in the player's pursuit with technical director Petr Cech having good relations with Rennes.
Cech was with the French outfit for a couple of seasons as a player before he made the switch to Chelsea in the summer of 2004.
Real Madrid have also been linked with Camavinga in the past, but they appear to have cooled their interest with their focus elsewhere.
