Manchester United are increasingly confident of signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer.
The Red Devils are keen on landing a new centre-back, and Varane has emerged as the prime transfer target.
They have already been permitted to negotiate personal terms, and Standard Sport claims that they are growing confident of signing him.
The club have yet to finalise a transfer fee with Real Madrid. Los Blancos value Varane at £60m despite him entering the final year of his contract.
Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the 2018 World Cup winner, but reports claim that the Frenchman prefers a move to Old Trafford.
United are eyeing a new central defensive partner for Harry Maguire. Victor Lindelof has been criticised in the past for his positioning.
The Swede could drop down the pecking order next term. There are suggestions that either Eric Bailly or Axel Tuanzebe could be sold.
Bailly has been linked with a return to Villarreal. Tuanzebe has emerged as a transfer target for Aston Villa, where he previously spent time on loan.
