Chelsea planning third bid for Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea are planning a third bid to sign Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku, The Athletic reports.

The Blues are keen on landing an elite striker this summer, and they have been heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland.

A deal appears highly unlikely with Dortmund reluctant to sell, and The Athletic claims that the club are now focused on Lukaku.

The west London giant have already failed with two club-record bids, and are now preparing another attempt to land the Belgian.

Lukaku had a superb 2020/21 campaign for the Milan giants, registering 30 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.

He has repeatedly emphasised that he would like to stay at Inter, but the Blues are still hopeful of re-signing him.

Lukaku was previously with the club between 2011 and 2014 before he made the permanent switch to Everton.

They attempted to re-sign him in 2017 before Manchester United hijacked the deal. He left United for Inter in 2019.
