Mikel Arteta updates on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's future
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has insisted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will stay at the club beyond the summer transfer window.
The Gabon international had a tough 2020/21 season, registering just 15 goals across all competitions for the Gunners.
He was recently out with coronavirus, but returned to the starting XI in style with a hat-trick against West Brom last night.
There has been speculation that Manchester City could make a late attempt to sign him as they aim to land a new striker.
However, Arteta has dismissed the prospect of the club captain leaving before Tuesday's 11 pm transfer cut-off time.
He said: "Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is our player and he will remain here."
Aubameyang is expected to lead the line for the Gunners when they make the trip to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
The club face an arduous task on their hands. They have failed to beat City in any of the previous eight league meetings.
The north Londoners have failed to register a single point during this period.
