Manchester United are working on a new and improved contract for midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to The Mirror.

The Portuguese has been a revelation since his move from Sporting Lisbon last year. He has bagged 43 goals and 25 assists from just 83 games.

He still has four years left on his contract with a 12-month option, but the Red Devils are keen to reward him for his exceptional efforts.

The 26-year-old is currently on wages of £180,000-a-week, and reports suggest that he could earn close to £300,000-a-week with the renewal.

Talks are planned after the international break, and the club are confident that they can finalise an agreement in the near future.

The hierarchy are also planning talks with Paul Pogba, but the Frenchman appears determined to decline a possible extension.

He has his sights on a dream move to Real Madrid. He has urged his agent to make contact with the Madrid giants ahead of January.

Madrid are long-term admirers of Pogba. They could sign him on a free next summer by negotiating a pre-contract in January.
