United won't include release clause in new Fernandes deal

Manchester United have reportedly refused to insert a release clause in a potential new contract for Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes has been a revelation for the Mancunian giants since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in the 2020 January transfer window.

In just 83 appearances, he has accumulated 43 goals and 25 assists. He has become a firm favourite among the club's faithful.

Fernandes still has four years left on his contract with the option for another 12 months, but United are keen to reward him a new deal.

He is currently on £180,000-a-week. United are prepared to make him one of the highest earners with £300,000 in weekly wages.

His agent recently proposed a release clause that was rejected by the hierarchy. Talks are still progressing over a new contract.

Fernandes started the current campaign with a stellar hat-trick against Leeds United before drawing blank against Southampton and Wolves.

He will be keen to put up a strong showing for the club when they host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.
