Chelsea face stiff competition from Juventus to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, Calciomercato reports.

The Blues were keenly following the Frenchman earlier this year, but opted against signing him during the summer transfer window.

Tchouameni had a fantastic breakout campaign with Monaco last term as he won Ligue 1's Young Player of the Year award.

Despite this, the Blues felt that he was still inexperienced, and opted to assess his performances for another season at least.

It is now reported that the west London giants may have to step up their interest at the beginning of 2022 due to Juventus' pursuit.

The Bianconeri failed with a loan-to-buy option for Tchouameni this summer. They are planning a permanent bid for January.

The Blues have also made contact with Monaco, but it could come to which club is prepared to guarantee him regular playing time.

Tchouameni was valued at around €30m this summer. His valuation is bound to increase after he made his senior debut for France.
