Fernandes set for new deal?

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes is close to signing a new bumper contract, according to The Sun.

The Portuguese has four years remaining on his contract, but the Red Devils are keen to reward him for his performances.

He has been the standout performer over the past 20 months, and appears set for a significant rise on his current weekly wages.

The 27-year-old currently earns around £160,000-per-week. United are prepared to offer him a basic salary of £250,000-per-week.

Meanwhile, there are several performance-based bonuses that could further raise his salary, potentially to more than £300,000 weekly.

Fernandes has been a revelation for the Red Devils since his move from Sporting Lisbon during the 2020 January transfer window.

He has bagged 44 goals and 26 assists from just 85 appearances.

The Portuguese has emerged as the best-performing midfielder across Europe, and will be eyeing silverware this season.

With Cristiano Ronaldo back at the club, the Red Devils have an excellent opportunity to end a four-year trophy drought.
