Liverpool are prepared to allow goalkeeper Loris Karius leave on a free transfer when the transfer window reopens in January.

The German has not played for the Reds since the 2018 Champions League final where his blunders contributed to a 3-1 win for Real Madrid.

He has since spent time on loan with Besiktas and Union Berlin. He was fancied to join Basel on loan this summer, but a deal failed to go through.

According to The Mirror, the Reds are now willing to sanction his free transfer exit in January with his contract expiring next summer.

There are no clubs interested in paying a nominal fee, and the Reds prefer to terminate his contract to save part of his weekly wages.

Karius has not even made the matchday squad for the club this term. He was ignored for the recent Carabao Cup fourth round tie at Preston.

Club graduates Marcelo and Liam Hughes were preferred on the bench while Adrian got the nod between the sticks at Deepdale.
