Ceballos to return to Arsenal?

Arsenal could attempt to re-sign Dani Ceballos for a third occasion when the transfer window reopens, The Mirror reports.

The Real Madrid midfielder had a successful 2019/2020 season on loan with the Gunners, and he was re-signed in a similar deal last summer.

However, his second campaign was far from impressive. He was culpable for multiple defensive mistakes that ended up in opposition goals.

The Gunners opted against re-signing him this summer, but it is now reported that Mikel Arteta would like to bring him back.

The club will be without Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny in January due to their participation in the African Cup of Nations.

Meanwhile, there are also doubts over Granit Xhaka's availability as he is currently sidelined with a medial knee ligament issue.

Amidst this, the club are likely to pursue a new defensive midfielder, and Arteta is looking to convince Ceballos to rejoin the club.

The Spaniard has yet to play for Los Blancos this term after an ankle injury at the Olympics. He is likely to be fit in the coming weeks.

There is no indication that Carlo Ancelotti will play him, and the Gunners could explore another temporary deal for his services.
