Manchester United confirm big injury blow ahead of derby
Manchester United have confirmed that Raphael Varane has picked up a hamstring injury ahead of the Manchester derby.
The Frenchman was substituted in the 38th minute against Atalanta on Tuesday night after he sustained an injury unchallenged.
Speaking after the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was concerned for the defender, but was optimistic over his quick recovery.
However, that does not appear the case. United have confirmed that Varane will be out for around a month with a hamstring injury.
He is set to miss the weekend's league clash against Manchester City after which there will be the final international break of the year.
Following the internationals, United are set to face Watford, Villarreal and Chelsea before the end of November. Varane will miss those games.
United have made a mixed beginning to the current campaign, and they have picked up just 17 points after 10 games into the league season.
They recently went on a four-match winless league run before the win at Tottenham Hotspur. Varane's absence is a big blow for them.
