Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hinted that the club are making progress over a new contract for Mohamed Salah.

The Egypt international has had another top campaign for the Merseyside giants, bagging 22 goals from 23 games.

Despite this, there remains speculation over his future with his current contract expiring in just over 18 months' time.

The Reds are yet to make a breakthrough in negotiations, but Klopp has said that the club have had good conversations.

He told Sky Sports: "We are in really good conversations. I want it to happen, but when? I couldn't care less."

Salah has been pivotal for the Reds, who are presently three points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The Egyptian will be key to delivering a second league title in three seasons, but he may not play any part next month.

With the African Cup of Nations scheduled between January 9 and February 6, Salah could be away for the whole period.
