Chelsea unlikely to sign Premier League defender
Chelsea are unlikely to sign Everton defender Lucas Digne this month, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claims.
The Blues are looking for a new left wing-back option with Ben Chilwell sidelined for the season after a knee surgery.
Digne, who is expected to leave the Toffees this month, has been linked with the club, but a deal appears unlikely to happen.
The west London giants are eyeing a loan deal for the Frenchman, but the Toffees are reluctant to consider the proposal.
They are keen on parting ways with the defender for good. It is reported that they want at least £25m for the former Barcelona man.
Hence, the Blues are expected to look elsewhere. It has been speculated that they are trying to recall Emerson from his loan stint.
Emerson joined Lyon on a season-long loan last summer with an option to buy. There is no recall clause on the agreed contract.
The Blues are planning to negotiate a compensation fee with the Ligue 1 outfit, but it is unclear whether they will release him.
