Kevin Keegan has dismissed rumours of a move for Thierry Henry as pure speculation, but has admitted that he has thought up a list of players to sign this summer with Dennis Wise as Newcastle prepare for next season.

Keegan said: "If they bring players in who are not my players I wouldn't be managing this football club.

"There is only one list that will count. Dennis knows that, Tony Jimenez (vice president of player recruitment) knows that and Jeff Vetere (technical co-ordinator) knows that. They are not there to say you have to sign this player, they are there to say you should go and have a look at this player. It is a different thing.

"Dennis and I had a great meeting the other day. I would prefer to sign players with Premier League experience. Sign them from abroad, and it could take them six months to settle.

"We will now be flying out to look at players they have put down. Until we see them they won't come in.

"Our relationship has worked well so far. We talk a lot and he comes up here a lot. We had a meeting and we took our list in, myself Arthur Cox, Terry McDermott and the staff and said let's have a look at the players we like.

"They put theirs down. They have a massive database and experience in all parts of Europe and South America. I am less keen on South America.

"They are there to help the club move forward. We are going to work together. Nothing Dennis is doing is in any way detrimental to me doing my job. We want three or four top-notch players to improve the first team and then three or so young ones who are more of a risk."
