Serie A club favourites to sign Arsenal midfielder

Fiorentina are considered front-runners to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira on a permanent deal.

The Uruguayan joined the Serie A side on loan last summer with the option to buy for around £12 million.

La Viola are planning to negotiate a lesser fee, but Standard Sport claims that they are still favourites to sign him.

Torreira has made 23 appearances for the Florence outfit, who are currently placed seventh in the league standings.

The 26-year-old has evolved into a key player for the Italian club, and does not have any hesitation in committing his future.

Torreira was previously keen on joining Boca Juniors, but the Argentine outfit don't have the finances to afford him.

Boca were also interested in Manchester United's Edinson Cavani, but the striker looks set to continue in Europe next term.

Cavani has his sights on playing in the Spanish top-flight after his United contract expires at the end of the season.

Barcelona were linked with him in the recent transfer window.
