Man Utd ready to pay big for Barcelona defender

Manchester United are reportedly keen on prising away Ronald Araujo from Barcelona this summer.

The centre-back has been on the Red Devils' radar since the New Year. They have now been handed a boost with Araujo yet to agree fresh terms over a new contract.

Barcelona are keen on committing Araujo to a new long-term deal, but he has no plans of accepting the current €3m per year salary. He is eyeing three times more.

This has led to an impasse in negotiations. According to Sport, the Red Devils are now exploring the possibility of signing him. They are prepared to spend big.

While Araujo has just 15 months left on his contract, United are willing to pay more than his current valuation. They will ask Barcelona to name their asking price.

Aside from Araujo, the Red Devils are keeping tabs on long-term target Nikola Milenkovic. The Serbian is expected to leave Fiorentina at the end of the campaign.
