Torres back on Man Utd radar

Manchester United will revive their interest in signing Villarreal defender Pau Torres ahead of the summer.

The Spaniard was on the Red Devils' radar during last summer's transfer window, but they opted to land Raphael Varane instead.

Varane has been a quality acquisition for the Mancunian giants, but he has struggled with fitness concerns for most of the season.

As a result, the board want to bring in another quality central defender, and have their sights on pursuing Torres from Villarreal.

According to Manchester Evening News, Torres has a release clause of €60m on his contract, but could be signed for less.

However, the Yellow Submarines are expected to demand a straight-cash deal for the central defender without any kind of add-ons.

For now, Torres is fully focused on his job at Villarreal, who recently stunned Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The La Liga outfit are rank outsiders to win the competition, but they will be hoping to surprise Liverpool in the double-legged semi-final.
