Nunez wanted by Manchester United

Manchester United are determined to land the signature of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez this summer.

The Red Devils are set for a summer rebuild, and they could potentially purchase more than one centre-forward.

Nunez's name has regularly popped up in recent weeks, and it is now claimed that the club are counting on him for next season.

According to Record, incoming boss Erik ten Hag has earmarked Nunez as his prime target to bolster the centre-forward department.

The lack of Champions League football is a bitter blow for the club, but the hierarchy are still confident of landing the 22-year-old.

Nunez has been in stupendous form for Benfica this campaign. The Uruguayan has amassed 34 goals from just 41 outings.

His form has caught the eye of several elite clubs, but United seem best placed as they have the finances to meet the price tag.

Benfica are likely to hold out for around £85 million to sanction his sale.
