Man Utd trying to sign Barcelona midfielder?

Manchester United are trying to negotiate a suitable deal for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils are eyeing a new holding midfielder this summer, and it has recently emerged that De Jong is the prime target.

Incoming boss Erik ten Hag worked with the midfielder at Ajax, and he is reportedly keen on reuniting with him at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have already held preliminary talks with the Blaugrana, but a deal does not straightforward by any stretch of the imagination.

Blaugrana manager Xavi Hernandez is determined to keep the Dutchman at the club next season despite the ongoing financial troubles.

On top of this, De Jong is also not looking to leave the Catalan giants. If he were to leave the club, Champions League will be top priority.
