Spurs and Arsenal to battle for Rovella signature
After an impressive loan spell with Genoa, both Arsenal and Tottenham are weighing up a transfer move for Italian under-21 international midfielder Nicolo Rovella. The youngster spent last season on loan with Genoa from his parent club Juventus.
According to reports from Italy, Juve are looking for as much as 33 million euros before they even consider selling the hot prospect for the future, with Rovella seen as an important part of their plans.
Rovella worked his way through the ranks at Genoa, before Juventus signed the player on an 18 million euro deal in the winter transfer window of 2021. He later returned for another season on loan at his former club. Yet another impressive season has further boosted the youngster's profile.
Nicolo Rovella is comfortable playing in defensive midfield or further up the pitch, and is seen as the perfect fit for a deep lying midfielder within a Gegenpress-style system.
His contract at Juventus expires in 2024, and the club's first team coaching staff have indicated that there is a place for him in the team for 2022-23. However, that would likely be as a squad player as opposed to the starting XI.
Arsenal and Tottenham are both seeking midfield reinforcements, and could even allow Rovella to spend another season on loan should a transfer be completed.
