Erik ten Hag confident of signing 25-year-old star
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is confident that the club can secure an agreement to sign Frenkie de Jong this summer.
The Red Devils have identified the Dutchman as their main midfield target, but they have yet to agree a suitable transfer fee.
United recently proposed a package of €70m plus €10m in add-ons, but Barcelona are reluctant to sell him for €80m alongside other variables.
This has put the transfer negotiations on hold, but Metro claims that Ten Hag is growingly confident that United will seal the deal for the 25-year-old.
Barcelona need to balance their financial books by June 30, and this could force them to accept a lesser fee for the Netherlands international.
De Jong was initially reluctant to join United due to their lack of Champions League football, but he has been convinced by manager Erik ten Hag.
The player is no longer a stumbling block towards the move, and United will be hoping to finalise his transfer at the earliest possibility.
