French midfielder Paul Pogba has said that Manchester United made a mistake by not offering him a new contract at the earliest possibility.

The 29-year-old will be leaving the Red Devils when his contract expires on June 30. He is expected to rejoin Juventus on a free transfer.

The move will be confirmed in due course, but Pogba has now said that United made a mistake by waiting to give him a new contract.

He said: "My thought process is to show Manchester that they made a mistake in waiting to give me a contract. And to show other clubs that they had made a mistake in not offering me a contract."

Meanwhile, it has been claimed in the past that Pogba was offered a £400,000-a-week deal by United, but he decided to snub it.

When pressed on the speculation, the midfielder emphasised that he was offered 'nothing' by the club during his final year with them.

The 2018 World Cup winner added: "How can you tell a player you absolutely want him and offer him nothing? Never seen that."
