Arsenal make Nuno Tavares transfer decision

Arsenal open to loaning out Tavares

Arsenal are open to loaning out Nuno Tavares this summer if they can find a suitable replacement in the transfer market.

The Portuguese left-back was signed from Benfica last summer to provide cover for the injury-plagued Kieran Tierney.

However, he was far impressive in his debut season and received criticism from some fans for his poor defensive awareness.

According to The Athletic, the north London giants are now willing to send Tavares out on loan to gain more experience.

Marseille are among the front-runners to sign him, but the Gunners want to find a replacement first before finalising his exit.

Ajax's Lisandro Martinez is currently the top target. The Argentina international can play in three different roles.

He is a central defender by trade, who is also capable of operating in the left-back and the defensive midfield positions.

The Gunners' opening offer of €30 million was rejected by Ajax. The Dutch giants are said to holding out for at least €50m.
