Newcastle United near Moussa Diaby agreement
Bayer Leverkusen and France international winger Moussa Diaby is on the verge of a move to St James' Park, after Newcastle United finally reached an agreement for the transfer of the player. It is understood that Newcastle will pay an initial 19 million euros for Diaby, with a further 11 million euros based upon performance and appearances.
Diaby, who came through Paris St Germain's youth side before making a move to Leverkusen in 2019 on a five year contract, has fast become one of the Bundesliga's most exciting talents, last season seeing the player's best return yet, with 13 goals in 32 games.
Newcastle had made their first bid for Diaby in mid-June, but were unable to agree a fee and turned their attentions elsewhere. A transfer for Jack Harrison of Leeds United would then fall through, leaving Eddie Howe running out of options.
However, eyefootball understands that an agreement has finally been reached and that Diaby will likely complete a move to Newcastle next week in what has been touted as a "mega-money" deal, worth around 125,000 euros per week to the attacker.
Newcastle have beaten Arsenal in their successful pursuit of Moussa Diaby.
