Man Utd planning swoop for box-to-box midfielder

Sergej Milinkovic news

Milinkovic-Savic to Man Utd?

Manchester United are planning to swoop for the services of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The Red Devils recently agreed a transfer fee with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong, but the 25-year-old is reluctant to leave the Catalan giants.

United are still not giving up on him, but are prepared to look at alternative transfer options if the Dutchman does not change his stance soon.

According to Calciomercato, Milinkovic-Savic could be United's immediate alternative to De Jong, and internal talks are already underway.

The Red Devils have already spoken with the agent of the box-to-box midfielder, who bagged 11 goals and 12 assists for Lazio last term.

They have yet to make a formal approach for his signature, but it has been claimed that Lazio want at least £60m to sanction his departure.

Milinkovic-Savic has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, and he was first on their radar during the 2019 summer transfer window.

Back then, Lazio put them off with a £100m price tag, but he could be prised away for less with his contract expiring in just two years' time.
