Chelsea now keen on landing Marc Cucurella

Chelsea are confident of hijacking Manchester City's pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella.

The Spaniard has been heavily linked with the Premier League champions this summer, but they are yet to meet the price tag.

Brighton want £50m to part ways with the left-back, but the Cityzens are adamant that they won't pay more than £40m.

Amidst this, the Blues have now entered the pursuit of the player, and they are aiming to sign him in a player-plus cash deal.

The London giants are willing to include Levi Colwill as a makeweight to land Cucurella, who has handed in a transfer request.

The Blues are confident of sealing an agreement as the Cityzens do not plan to revisit their interest in the defender for now.

Cucurella is said to be keen on playing Champions League football, and has publicly confirmed the same in recent interviews.

The 24-year-old would be a quality purchase for the Blues as he can play in the back three or in the left wing-back position.
