Man Utd convinced of landing Frenkie de Jong

Manchester United are convinced of landing midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona in the coming weeks.

The Red Devils have already agreed a deal with the Blaugrana for De Jong, but he has yet to finalise personal terms.

His deferred wages are considered as a reason, and Sport report that United are still confident of landing his services.

According to the Spanish outlet, the Red Devils believe De Jong will give his 'OK' to the transfer once his deferred wages are settled.

It is added that manager Erik ten Hag has already discussed with the midfielder, and has been made aware of the situation.

Chelsea have also been linked with the 25-year-old in recent weeks, but Sport clarify that they have yet to make any proposal.

It appears the interest from the Blues could be agent-driven such that De Jong can grab the attention of other top European sides.

United are currently in pole position to land him, but De Jong could turn them down if a Champions League club enter the race.
