Ajax firm on Antony price tag

Manchester United must pay £84 million in order to convince Ajax to part ways with Antony this summer.

The Brazilian is pushing to join the Red Devils before the transfer deadline, but the club are far off from finalising a fee.

They have already failed with two bids of £51m and £68m for the 22-year-old, and it is quite clear that Ajax won't sell him for less than £84m.

According to De Telegraaf, Ajax have no problems with Antony going on strike, and they are prepared to keep him on the sidelines.

If United don't meet their price tag by transfer deadline day (September 1), Ajax are confident of reintegrating Antony into their plans.

Hence, the onus is on the Red Devils improving their bid. So far, they are reluctant to make a third offer for the Brazil international.

Their stance could change over the next few days, particularly if they suffer a heavy defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford tomorrow.

United are firm underdogs against the Reds on Monday night, having lost the last three meetings while conceding at least four goals.
