Arsenal open contract talks with Gabriel Martinelli

Gabriel Martinelli news

Martinelli set for new Arsenal deal?

Arsenal have opened negotiations over a new long-term contract with Gabriel Martinelli, according to football.london.

The Gunners have made a terrific start to the campaign with three straight wins, and Martinelli has been heavily involved.

The Brazilian was a back-up option at the start of last season, but he is now regarded as an undisputed starter on the left wing.

He has two years remaining on his contract, and the hierarchy are determined to negotiate an improved deal at the earliest.

Martinelli currently earns £90,000-a-week with the Gunners, and his salary could be hiked by 50 per cent with the renewal.

The 21-year-old is clearly happy with his proceedings at Arsenal, and the club will want to extend his stay as soon as possible.

He has not attracted any high-profile interest thus far, but a strong campaign with the club could lead to plenty of attention.

Arsenal should be wary of such a situation and will want to commit him to a long-term deal. The same goes for Bukayo Saka.
