Chelsea to try again for Edson Alvarez?
Chelsea could make a fresh attempt to sign Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez in January, according to De Telegraaf.
The Blues were prepared to pay €50m for the Mexico international earlier on Wednesday, but Ajax declined the proposal.
The Dutch champions did not want to lose him before the transfer deadline, but it is reported that they could consider bids in January.
Alvarez was obviously left angered by the failure to join Chelsea, but he has been assured of leaving the club at the turn of the year.
Chelsea are prepared to come up with a fresh approach, and it is claimed that they could negotiate a pre-agreement for a January transfer.
Alvarez still has three years remaining on his Ajax deal. He has been a key player for them, and the club may want a replacement first.
Florian Grillitsch was signed on a free transfer yesterday, but Ajax only consider him as a rotational player within their first-team squad.
