Liverpool still in the mix for Christopher Nkunku

Liverpool remain contenders to sign RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku despite the concrete interest from Chelsea.

The Blues are long-term admirers of the Frenchman and it was reported yesterday that the player had already undergone a medical with them.

Despite this, there is no deal in place with Leipzig. Nkunku signed a new deal this summer with a release clause active from June next year.

If the Blues want to sign him, they must trigger the buy-out clause or pay a higher fee when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

Amidst this, CBS Sports report that it is not a foregone conclusion that the Blues will sign Nkunku, considering the strong competition.

Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the former Paris Saint-Germain graduate, and they are being touted to provide a stern test for the Blues.

Chelsea must ensure that they qualify for next season's Champions League or else, they could miss out on landing the versatile playmaker.
