Chelsea missing four players for Palace clash

Chelsea will be without four players when they face Crystal Palace on the road on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues restart their Premier League campaign at Selhurst Park. Ahead of the London derby, Graham Potter has provided some team news.

N'Golo Kante was spotted in training earlier this week, but the Blues manager has revealed that he won't be fit for the Eagles clash.

Aside from the Frenchman, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been ruled out, having yet to recover from a rib injury sustained last month.

Potter told Chelseafc.com: "They’re not available."

"They’re absolutely fine in terms of coming through the rehab stages. NG has been on the grass with the team, but not really full training.

"Edou is a bit further on, but hasn’t had enough to be involved at the weekend. Maybe next week for him."

Apart from the duo, Carney Chukwuemeka and Marc Cucurella won't make the matchday squad against the Eagles due to illnesses.

Potter added: "We’ve got a bit of illness with Marc Cucurella and Carney."

Chelsea are currently languishing seventh in the Premier League standings. They are already eight points adrift of the top spot.

Potter recently replaced Thomas Tuchel as the new manager, and he has a big job ahead as the Blues push for a top-four finish.
