Chelsea leading race to sign Portuguese star
Chelsea are reportedly leading the hunt to sign Rafael Leao from AC Milan next year.
The Blues were eager to land the Portuguese winger this summer, but the Rossoneri rejected their transfer approach.
The London giants were willing to pay around £65m, but the Rossoneri did not want to sell following their recent takeover.
However, the situation could change at the beginning of the year particularly with Leao playing hardball over a new deal.
His current contract expires in the summer of 2024, and the Milan giants could be tempted to sell him for a premium fee soon.
The Blues are prepared to try again for him in January, and it is claimed that a package of around £87m could convince Milan.
Leao has been in exceptional form for the Serie A champions this campaign, registering four goals and seven assists from nine games.
The 23-year-old dreams of playing in the Premier League at some point and as things stand, it could happen sooner rather than later.
