Fofana out for four weeks with knee sprain

Chelsea will be without defender Wesley Fofana for four weeks with a knee injury, according to French publication L'Equipe.

The centre-back scored his maiden Blues goal in the Champions League clash against AC Milan, but he suffered an injury soon after.

He was tears coming off the playing field, but it seems that he has avoided a long-term injury following scans conducted earlier today.

As per L'Equipe, the former Leicester City man has only suffered a sprain to his knee and could be out of action for at least four weeks.

This could potentially mean that he won't return to first-team action until the World Cup as he will need to build up his fitness as well.

Chelsea registered their first win of their Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-0 triumph over AC Milan at home yesterday.

They are now on four points after three group stage games, and have their destiny in their own hands when it comes to making the last 16.
