Marko Arnautovic's representative Tiziano Pasquali has revealed that the Bologna striker rejected Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

The former Premier League star was linked with a surprise switch to Old Trafford last summer before the club pulled out of talks.

It was suggested that the decision was due to fan pressure, but Pasquali has provided a different version of the story to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The agent claimed that the Red Devils were determined to land his services, but it was Arnautovic himself, who decided to stay at Bologna.

He said: "From the English, we had received a written proposal, and the negotiations had continued even after some contrary opinions from their fans but in the end, it was Marko who chose not to drag it out too long and to stay at Bologna."

Arnautovic started the season in sublime fashion with six goals in no time, but he has now failed to find the back of the net for several weeks.

There are claims in Bologna that the Serie A outfit regret the decision to keep Arnautovic after receiving a lucrative transfer bid from United.
