Arsenal confirm Takehiro Tomiyasu injury boost
Arsenal have provided an injury boost on Takehiro Tomiyasu by confirming that he will be fit for the upcoming World Cup.
The Japan international sustained a minor hamstring injury during the 1-0 Europa League win over Zurich at the Emirates.
He was subsequently missing for the 1-0 Premier League win at Chelsea, but Arsenal have assured that it is nothing serious.
In an update today, the club revealed that he is being assessed by the medical staff but should feature for Japan at the World Cup.
"Having picked up an injury in our Europa League game against FC Zurich last week, Takehiro is currently being assessed regarding his fitness for our remaining matches before the World Cup, but should be available to feature in the tournament."
Tomiyasu has been a regular left-back for the Gunners over the past month but he picked up an untimely injury last week.
Fortunately for him, the setback is not serious. He should be fit by the time Japan start their World Cup campaign in Qatar.
Tomiyasu has been a regular centre-back for his national side and should be ever-present for them at the global tournament.
